Why is this important?

More powerful than traditional numeral flashcards, dot cards encourage children to focus on the cardinal amount of a set of dots. They connect the number word to its quantity. When they have to produce a similar-sized set of fingers, children must translate from one representation (dots) to another representation (fingers) while working with the same quantity.
