Who Is Labeled Smart Webinar
Hosted on January 31, 2024, “Who is labeled smart?” featured an engaging conversation between Rebeca Itzkowich (Erikson Institute) and Dr. Danny Bernard Martin (University of Illinois Chicago) about the historical and sociopolitical aspects of mainstream notions of smartness, the connections between such notions and racial stereotypes, and how stereotypes materialize and impact early math education in the United States.
Engaging Families and Communities Webinar
Hosted on October 23, 2024, Engaging Families and Communities featured a lively conversation between Maile Hadley (First 5 FUNdamentals) and Dr. Gigliana Melzi (New York University) where they discussed ways to conceptualize and promote family engagement in early math education from a racial justice perspective.

Hosted on December 3, 2024, Centering the Brilliance of (Im)migrant Children featured an engaging conversation between Drs. Olimpia Bahena (Chicago Public Schools) and Melissa Adams Corral (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) as they shared critical insights about issues of immigration and their interconnections with racial justice in early mathematics education.
