Erikson Institute partnered with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and Office of the Justice Advisory Council to determine how many caregivers in custody or detained at Cook County Jail have children. The County commissioned this research to guide its efforts to support parents/primary caregivers and children entering temporary care situations with family or family friends.
